The Better Half is a dance-theater spin on the noir thriller Gaslight, which departs from its source text to bring a contemporary relevance to relatable themes of claustrophobia, escapist tendencies, and resilience in domestic relationships. The Better Half is co-created by Lucky Plush’s Artistic Director Julia Rhoads and Collaborating Director Leslie Danzig.

In conjunction with the Friday, April 27 performance of Tab Show, Lucky Plush hosts its annual benefit bash, PLUCKY LUSH 2018. Enjoy a pre-show cocktail (6:30-7:30pm), repertoire performance (7:30pm – 9pm), and mingle with the artists in the Level 1 lobby for heavy apps and bottomless drinks (9-11pm).
Tab Show features two distinct Lucky Plush works—Rink Life and Curb Candy—that highlight the company’s signature blend of dance, theatre, and comedy. In Rink Life, the sound design playfully builds upon disparate fragments of information—partially overheard conversations, musical scales, pop-song earworms—and is generated entirely by the performers in real-time. Curb Candy accumulates passing moments from favorite Lucky Plush repertory into a dreamlike roadshow.
During intermission, there will be an opportunity for audience members to support the company through a paddle raise in the theater, inviting audience members to contribute directly to the performers' salaries, health stipends, and designer wages.
Important info about tickets: To begin the night, please navigate to the Level 1 Lobby of Harris Theater (205 E Randolph) to visit the PLUCKY LUSH check-in table. Pick up your Tab Show ticket and PLUCKY LUSH wristband, and enjoy a pre-show drink starting at 6:30 with curtain at 7:30pm. See you there!
Your PLUCKY LUSH ticket purchase includes a ticket to Tab Show. There is no need to visit the Harris Theater will call; instead, Lucky Plush staff will disperse Tab Showtickets to guests in the Level 1 Lobby.

"Rhoads is a master of comedic timing and physical humor; she expertly tugs at the idiosyncrasies of human nature and seamlessly blends dance, theater and music. Her best works easily place her on the short list of our city’s strongest and most successful choreographers." –Lauren Warnecke, Chicago Tribune
A group of washed-up super heroes join forces to create a nonprofit think tank but get caught up in the politics of branding and group dynamics. Fighting evil ain’t what it used to be. This is the basis for Trip the Light Fantastic: The Making of SuperStrip, Lucky Plush’s newest creation. Funny, smart and thought provoking, Lucky Plush is a breath of fresh air in the dance world. They’re going to quickly become a TITAS favorite!
