The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

“Julia Rhoads is a choreographer with all the instincts of a born satirist.”—Chicago Sun-Times

Lucky Plush Productions makes its Kennedy Center debut with this insightful and surprisingly humorous dance/theater “whodunit.” As the only dance organization to receive the MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, the Chicago-based company is recognized for its layered choreography, palpable liveness, and socially relevant storytelling—all of which characterize its newest work created by Artistic Director Julia Rhoads and frequent collaborator Leslie Buxbaum Danzig.

Rooming House
Marrying intimate conversations among friends with the tragic myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, Rooming House creates a lively blueprint for pursuing the question: what makes a person do something that could lead to shattering and irreparable consequences? Be prepared for the unpredictable as the ensemble shifts between dynamic choreography, casual speech, and off-the-cuff humor in its highly theatrical trademark style.
