Punk Yankees: Choreo-bibliography

Punk Yankees samples, mashes up, re-mixes and appropriates movement and ideas to address the murky relationship between dance and intellectual property. Celebrating our 10th anniversary, the work predominantly draws from a decade of Lucky Plush works, but also includes movement and ideas from other choreographers' work, either as remembered by the performers, or learned from video. Given the nature of this work, we feel it is important to be as explicit as possible in identifying source material, whether directly sited, deconstructed, or completely transformed. And as dance is ephemeral and mediated by individual bodies, even the direct samples are not necessarily accurate representations of the choreographers we cite.
